City Clinic has established a Pulmonology Department of Complex Diagnostics and Treatment of Pulmonary Diseases. The Department has been furnished with the state-of-the-art equipment and devices thus providing the possibility for covering the whole range of invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures in the field of pulmonology.
The basic direction of the activities in the Department is early and high-level diagnostics as well as fast and effective treatment of the most common [widespread] lung diseases, such as: lung carcinoma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE), etc. The Department has got a fibrobronchoscope of latest generation offering NBI imaging – it helps finding initial changes in the bronchial mucosa (the so called precancerous conditions), “invisible” to the older optic fibrobronchoscopes. This diagnostic methodology along with the latest-generation of Computed Tomography makes detecting pulmonary carcinoma possible in a very early stage, while the disease is completely curable. These examinations are appropriate and recommended by the American Thoracic Association as screening tests for patients in risk of lung carcinoma – basically, smokers of 1+ pack of cigarettes per day for 10+ years, aged 45+.
