Arthroscopic Surgery is a minimally invasive surgical procedure which is performed by using an arthroscope. It is inserted into the joint through a small incision. Arthroscopic procedure can be performed either to evaluate or to treat many orthopedic conditions. It is used for diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic inflammatory diseases, degenerative changes and injuries.

The possibilities of arthroscopy allow a full view of the joint cavity, aspiration of joint fluid, biopsy of the synovial membrane, removal (synovectomy) and recovery of joint ligaments, meniscus, etc.., removal of foreign matters, bone fragments, cartilage disks and others.

Arthroscopy is a surgical procedure in which the inside structure is examined for diagnosis and/or treatment by using a tube shaped instrument called an arthroscope. Arthroscopy was popularized in 1960 and is now common throughout the world. It is usually performed by orthopedic surgeons in an outpatient setting. When it is performed in an outpatient basis, patients can return home right after the procedure.

Arthroscopy can be helpful in the diagnosis and treatment of many non-inflammatory, inflammatory and infectious types of arthritis as well as various joint injuries.
